Sunshine

by Nick Quaglietta, 1985

In the morning she’s a woman
Her friends call her Dawn
She’s there to kiss my sleepy eyes
Her lips are soft and warm.

A face so bright and beautiful
With golden hair soft to touch
A day we start together
Is a day I love so much.

Over in the window
I see a new world outside
So I know that sunshine is smiling
And wearing her deep blue sky.

No longer do I delay
In a flash I dash out my door
Looking up at my friend to see
What wonders she has in store.

She leads me by the hand
Knowing nothing is beyond our reach
Perhaps a sail upon the ocean
Or some sun on a sandy beach.

And when daylight sets as she must
So the moon can do his part
She keeps away the cold at night
With the warmth she has in her heart.
